History of "Nan Highway District 1"
Nan Highway District 1 was formerly known as "Nan Highway District".
It was established on October 1, 1971, by separating the road network and responsibilities from the Phrae Highway District to oversee and maintain highways in Nan Province.
At its inception... The Nan Highway District had a temporary office located at the Phayawat Highway Section, Phayawat Village, Mueang District, Nan Province. Later, on October 27, 1974, a permanent office for the Nan Highway District 1 was constructed along Highway No. 101, the Suan Pa – Phayawat Bridge section, between km 362+915 and km 363+915 (originally km 246+616 - km 246+868), on the left side of the road. The office occupied an area of 51 rai, 1 ngan, and 79 square wah. The new office opened on July 14, 1977.
This was due to the fact that the original Nan Highway District... Due to the increased road coverage and the prevalence of mountainous terrain, the Department of Highways issued an order on October 1, 1993, to establish another highway district, Nan Highway District 2, to oversee and maintain all national highways in the northern part of Nan Province and parts of neighboring provinces. The name of the Nan Highway District was also changed to Nan Highway District 1, and it has since been changed again. This is Nan Highway District 1.
Nan Highway District 1 is responsible for the southern part of Nan Province, including Mueang District, Phu Piang District, Santi Suk District, Mae Chrim District, Na Muen District, Nan Noi District, Wiang Sa District, Ban Luang District, and parts of Chiang Muan District, Phayao Province, and Rong Kwang District, Phrae Province.
Nan Highway District 1 has had 21 highway engineers to date. Mr. Prasut Sutabutr was the first highway engineer, serving on October 1, 1971.
Currently, Mr. Mongkol Pinsakul holds the position of Director of Nan Highway District 1, a position he has held since March 1, 2024.
